Let the Society of the Open Rope take you back to the turbulent times of the English Civil Wars with our enthralling representations of 17th Century life.

Wander back down England's green lanes to the year 1643 as Crown and Parliament struggle for control of your area ~ and the whole land!

You will find lots of information and photos throughout the site, so just follow the links, especially Daily life and Characters where you will find links into pages about some of the people you might have met during the Civil War and can see how different life was then. You might even learn something new, but we hope you will be entertained. See our Contact page if you want to get in touch.

The Society of the Open Rope is a highly motivated group of re-enactors and historical interpreters dedicated to the furthering of local historical education and entertainment in respect of the Stuart period in general and
Firewatching
the English Civil Wars in particular. (But we are not stuffy and have a lot of fun!)
