Only a tiny village, 'once upon a time' it nevertheless commanded the trade route from Genoa to Milan, making it wealthy and well respected, to which the castle gives evidence. Sleepy and quiet these days the village is now respected for one of the most vibrant of Italy's myriad mediaval shows each year, breaking new ground by including the 17th Century elements and spectacularly burning the witch!*

* No witches are injured during the performance of this scene!
